The official name of Libya is "The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya"; in short "Libyan Arab Jamahiriya", or "The Libyan Arab Republic".

Tripoli is the capital of Libya and the largest city. Other main cities in Libya include Benghazi, Sirt (Surt), Misurata (Misratah), Tobruk, Sabha, Ajdabiya, and Ghadamis.

Libya is one of the top 10 oil-producing countries in the world. Libya tourism sector is developing due to the wealth of remains and ruins in Libya from various civilizations.
